“I grew up knowing I was indigenous and always wanted that connection in school, at work, or with family. Sewing with ASS gave me a way to come through for indigenous communities that became vulnerable during this pandemic. Having two school age kids and working as a teacher full-time made activism a challenge but sewing allowed me to be committed to helping while I couldn’t be outside. I am back to teaching online but plan on supporting with supplies and masks when I can. Thank you ASS for all that you do and inspire me to do and helping me find a way to serve the people using a skill my mother passed onto me when I was just 12.”
