While most of the Aunties haven't met each other i While most of the Aunties haven't met each other in person, we already feel like family. One thing we look forward to is a future where we can travel to any part of America and see an Auntie then give each other big hugs.

Our Auntie Jef happened to be driving through New Mexico where she got to see Auntie Katy and drop off some Auntie Care. Auntie Jef reports some really cool messaging campaigns in New Mexico to keep your mask on!

Don't worry! Our Aunties just pulled their masks down for the photo and promptly put them back on after!

The picture was made by Kate Diciccio as part of the "Our People's WPA Program".

THANK YOU for adopting East Coast Migrant Head Start Project as your nieces and nephews!"

We don't expect thank you letters because our partners are often too busy doing their work, but when we get them, they warm our heart! These were masks we made for East Coast Migrant Head Start which provide education for kids of farm workers!

🧶"Kristina Wong - "Auntie Sewing Squad: Radical Care, Social Justice and Mask Making During Covid-19" 🧶

Performance artist and comedian Kristina Wong shares her pandemic journey from out of work performer to unlikely leader of the Auntie Sewing Squad, a national mask sewing collective that formed at the top of the pandemic to distribute cloth masks to the most vulnerable of communities left behind by the Federal Government’s neglect during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Meet Aunties Kathleen and Sunni who happened to be at the same work shift at this volunteer site. Thanks for all your work Aunties! Behind the sewing machine and out in the world!

"Look who I found poking people? Got to meet Auntie Kathleen Smith in real life working at the Beach Cities Health District Vaccination site for educators. Me, directing traffic and Auntie Kathleen actually dispensing vaccine. Got to meet her brother and niece as well. She’s really tall and it doesn’t help that I’m short and squatting to get in this picture while social distancing."

❤️TODAY is March 24 and our ONE YEAR Auntie-ve ❤️TODAY is March 24 and our ONE YEAR Auntie-versary!❤️

That's right. We've been sewing face masks on our home sewing machines across the United States and distributing them to vulnerable communities for an entire year! That's close to 300k masks we have sent out. We have also sent relief supplies, winter clothes, and other aid to communities made vulnerable by systemic racism and structural violence. We cannot believe that the Auntie Sewing Squad, a temporary Facebook group that came together as a stop gap at the start of the pandemic still needs to exist. And yet, here we are and still looking forward to being obsolete.

To commemorate one year of radical care, we are sharing this image of our Auntie Care Coordinator Gayle and her 9 year old daughter Davina. This was drawn by artist Kate Dececcio. It was commissioned as part of the USDAC's Peoples WPA program that the Aunties are part of.

We thank our supporters, our caring Aunties, and those who have amplified our message. You can make a contribution towards our work at the link in our bio!
